Goalkeeper Coaching

Goalkeeper sessions run at Fairview Park, Rayleigh on Saturday’s as follows:

  • Mini Soccer from 9.30am until 10.30 am
  • 9, a side, 11-a-side and adult sessions from 10.45am – 12.00pm
  • The coaching will be carried out by Neil Kirsh, Adam Kirsh, Martin Shields and James Sanders
  • Training cost is £1.50

Equipment

As well as their gloves the keepers must have shinpads at each session and tracksuit bottoms would be advisable especially when the ground is hard.

Training

All aspects of goalkeeping is covered:

  • crosses
  • distribution
  • handling
  • shot stopping
  • warm up activities
  • competitive goalkeeping games.

The emphasis will be on improvement and acquiring good technique through fun but challenging activities.

Meet the coaching team:

Martin Shields Jnr

Martin has been playing youth football for over 12 years with over 260 appearances for Rayleigh FC. Martin is a Level 1 goalkeeping and outfield coach.

Joseph Shields

Joseph has played for Rayleigh FC for 8 years and has made in excess of 200 appearances. Joseph is an excellent shot stopper.

James Sanders

James is a vastly experienced keeper who has racked up over 250 youth team appearances. James currently plays adult football and is a key part of our coaching team.

Adam Kirsh

Adam is an ex-Rayleigh FC player with over a hundred appearances. Adam has completed his Level 1 coaching badge and hopes to carry on developing his goalkeeper coaching.

 

Neil Kirsh

Neil has been associated with the club for over 15 years. Neil has recently retired from playing: much to the joy of his team mates and the regret of the opposition! Neil holds his Level 2 coaching badges for goalkeeping and outfield and is committed to improving the standard of goalkeeping across the club.
