Rayleigh Boys U11 red have had their first season at 9 a-side and have had an up and down start. The Essex FA in the second half of the season put all the teams into four medals, one of which was the Thames Medal which we were in. We had a good start to the cup with a couple of wins but this was interrupted by poor weather. There where big gaps between games but the boys kept playing some excellent football which paid off to see us reach the semi finals. The team went on to win their semi final and then the quarter final. The final was held at Great Wakering Rovers FC ground which gave the boys the full experience of a final.
The game was a close one. We started well only to go a goal down in the first half. They battled on in the second half but we needed to change something, so we took off a defender and put on another attacker which paid off, with us scoring an equaliser with minutes to go. This took it to extra time. Extra time was a nail biter as the opposition hit the post. This sparked the boys into life and the winning goal can with seconds left on the clock. We are all proud of the boys and what they have achieved. Well done
